This was our fifth trip to Costa Rica, and we traveled with family—including an incredibly talented photographer—so it was important for us to experience not just the landscapes, but the incredible wildlife that makes this country so special. We were hoping to see everything from sloths to colorful toucans, vibrant frogs, and whatever else Costa Rica had to offer. Goose didn’t just meet those expectations—he exceeded them in every possible way. From the moment he picked us up at the airport in his comfortable, spotless vehicle, everything was seamless. Without delay, we were off on what turned out to be one of the most amazing days we’ve ever had. Goose listened carefully to what we wanted and thoughtfully customized an excursion that perfectly blended adventure, wildlife, and authentic local experiences. We began at Catarata Llanos de Cortés, and it was absolutely stunning. While taking in the beauty of the waterfall, we were lucky enough to spot howler monkeys—including babies riding on their mothers’ backs—which was such a special moment. From there, we made our way to the rainforest in Bijagua, specifically the beautiful Finca Verde Lodge—and this is where Goose truly shines. Not only is he deeply knowledgeable, but he’s also an incredible photographer himself. He constantly kept an eye out for wildlife and helped guide us to the best viewing (and photo!) opportunities. Along the way, he shared insights about the region—pointing out birds, explaining farming areas, discussing climate changes, and even walking us through the surrounding volcanoes. In the rainforest, we saw it all—vipers unique to Costa Rica, a three-toed sloth, and several toucans. Goose patiently guided us through the trails, teaching us how to really observe our surroundings—not just the path ahead, but the vines, the flowers, and the subtle signs of life all around us. His ability to spot wildlife and explain the ecosystem is truly unmatched. What stood out most was his passion. Goose has a deep love for Costa Rica, its people, and its environment. He approaches every moment with respect, curiosity, and pride—it’s clear he’s not just a guide, but a lifelong student of this incredible place. To top it all off, he arranged a unique, authentic Costa Rican meal that was just as memorable as the rest of the day. Sitting together, enjoying amazing food, it was clear how much care and intention he puts into every detail of the experience.
